Merced moves to a new office!

By the time you read this, Merced Housing Texas will have a new address. After more than twenty years at 212 West Laurel, we’ve moved. But not far.

Thanks to a loan from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), we acquired the building at 120 West Mistletoe Ave. Our new address is just four minutes away from our West Laurel location, in the Monte Vista neighborhood. It’s off the Main and West Mistletoe intersection and about a football field away from the Italian restaurant, Caparelli’s.

Merced’s new home is a site familiar to many San Antonians. It was where the popular gift shop, On Main Off Main, was located for the last 13 years of its 33-year existence. The new building is 5,500 square feet, nearly twice as large as Merced’s West Laurel location.

The front door opens into a lobby with vinyl plank floors. From there, visitors can be buzzed into the work area featuring an open-concepts design with eleven work spaces in the middle and six offices along the exterior. A conference room, copy room, kitchenette, and restrooms complete the building along with a large, multi-purpose back room.

The nearly year-long moving process was led by Merced Rehabilitation Specialist Gabe Garcia.

“The first time I walked in and saw the furniture and everything set up, I was overwhelmed and I got teary,” says Merced President Kristin Davila. “This is amazing!”

It only took days for Davila to see the new building’s impact on staff.

“People already are proud to come to work in the new space. It’s an interactive space which lends itself to more collaboration,” she says. “It’s a new era.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
