Kristin Davila, Merced’s vice president/treasurer and director of corporate operations, has been selected for the prestigious NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program, conducted at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

She’s one of 45 leaders from across the nation chosen for Achieving Excellence, a unique 18-month program providing executives with the skills to advance their organizations’ performance. Each participant uses the program to identify a specific challenge critical to their organization’s success.

Training began Sept. 11-15 at Harvard. Three additional meetings are planned across the country.

“I am honored and thrilled to have been selected by NeighborWorks for this program,” Kristin says. “After spending a week on the Harvard campus with my program peers, I’m even more grateful that I’m involved in this program. I’ve met some amazing people from across the country who are doing great work in their communities. I’m learning as much from my peers as I am from the instructors and coaches.”

Kristin, 36, is a native of New Baltimore, MI. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2003 with a BA in Sociology.

In 2005, she joined Merced as a Resident Services Coordinator for Suncrest Apartments. In 2008, she rose to become manager for the Resident Services Program. In 2009, she was promoted to Director of Corporate Operations and in 2010 was elected by Merced’s Board of Directors to be Vice President and Secretary of the Corporation.

“Kristin is poised to lead Merced’s transformation to be more performance driven and outcome focused. I am so proud that she is participating in the 9th class of the NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program,” says Merced President Susan R. Sheeran.

Achieving Excellence’s training includes three formal sessions at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as one-on-one executive coaching and intensive peer learning. Between academic sessions, participants will actively work on a clearly defined goal critical to their organizations’ success and will be working closely with their executive coaches and peer groups.

“The Achieving Excellence Program is providing Merced with the information, tools, and skills necessary to better articulate the outcomes of our programs,” says Kristin. “I’m confident this will help Merced serve our residents and program participants more effectively. At a time when the leadership is in transition at both the board and staff levels, I’ve already found lessons from the program to very helpful.”

Kristin is married to Robert Davila, who was born and raised on San Antonio’s East Side. Together, they have two children, Emma, six years old, and Davis, three years old.
