Merced's Single Family Program
Merced acquires decaying eyesores and completely rehabilitates them or constructs new infill homes. Merced sells the homes to qualifying families who make 80% or less of the area median income. The demand for affordable single-family housing in San Antonio is tremendous. Often rehabilitating one home can uplift the character of an entire block and owners of surrounding homes will be motivated to make improvements to their own homes. Merced rehabilitates homes within Loop 410 on the east, south, and west sides of San Antonio.
Merced acquires and renovates homes with funds provided by the San Antonio Housing Trust Foundation. Merced has received funds in the past from the Gilbert and Ruth Lang Charitable Trust administered through the San Antonio Area Foundation, Bank One Foundation and Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. Merced oversees the rehabilitation process and is the overall project manager.
